Retractable Screen Doors Offer Convenience and Function
The old fashioned sort of screen door is handy when it's too warm outside, but you'd prefer not to turn the AC on. They allow fresh air to circulate through your home, but keep out wildlife and insects that you'd rather not let run free indoors. Unfortunately, regular screen doors also get in the way when you're going on and out, and are a real nuisance when the main door is closed too. If you've ever tried to move a large piece of furniture through a screen door that you've propped open, you'll know how frustrating this can be. However, the answer isn't giving up screen doors. Instead, why not try retractable options?
Retractable screen doors may be the answer to every screen door problem you have. The use the same sort of technology as roll-up window blinds. That means that when you don't need to use them, you can roll a retractable screen door neatly away, taking up less space than a regular door and keeping the screen out of the way. Strangely, despite the fact that these doors have been around for years, most people haven't heard about them. These doors are made by four different major manufacturers, who create doors for many different brands. There's not a lot of difference between brands, although there is between models in a particular line. Generally, retractable screen doors are simple to install with only a few tools. If you're not comfortable doing the job yourself, it doesn't cost much to have your dealer install one for you.
One place that this kind of door can really be useful is in areas where a screen door can't normally be installed. For instance, if the door opens both ways – in and out – you can't use a normal screen door with it. It's also impossible to install anything but an expensive, specialty patio screen on sliding glass doors. French doors and those that open into narrow spaces without much clearance are impossible for regular screen door installation. If you've wanted the ability to screen these door types, a retractable screen door is the solution. It'll let you get fresh air into the house without inviting everything else in, too.
Of course, a retractable screen door isn't useful only on the outside of your home. You can install one anywhere you'd like to have a barrier without wholly closing off a space. Good places to put this type of door are a screened porch, between a garage and the main house, or in places where you'd like to keep pets and small children away from a certain area, but still be able to watch them. Retractable screen doors have lots of uses, and you can install them in much smaller spaces than a normal door. If you're tired of dealing with your screen door, or want to have the option of screening off an area where a regular door just won't work, think about retractable doors. It's convenient and simple to have one installed, or put it in yourself, and the cost is reasonable.
